For almost 20 years, Jonathan has been moved and in awe of the positive impact Nurtury Early Education has had on the lives of the children and families that they serve. Since 1878, they have been transforming childcare and narrowing the achievement gap between children from low-income families and their middle-class peers by ensuring that every child in their care will enter kindergarten ready to learn and succeed.
Jonathan has been honored to compete in Ironman competitions to support these wonderful children and families in the past, and on October 16, 2021, he competed in the Mallorca Spain Ironman. This time, however, he had a specific goal in mind – the physical health of the children that Nurtury serves.
The outdoor play space at one of Nurtury’s learning centers, after decades of use by thousands of children, has been designated unsafe for use by young children. These children have no outdoor space to use during the day! Spending active time outdoors as a kid is so important for life-long health. Children that are active in their early years generally continue to be more active as they age. And now, due to the COVID pandemic, having access to outdoor spaces is more important than ever. So, what could be a more perfect goal than raising the funds needed to rebuild the outdoor play space for today’s Ironkids who will become the Ironmen and Ironwomen of tomorrow?
As result of all those who sponsored and supported Jonathan's efforts, there was a tremendous effort towards the goal of $35,000!
